The work continues...

Ed and I are killing ourselves this weekend in the 90+ degree weather and accompanying humidity. Since the house painting is done, we must now perform accommodating tasks such as:
1. Return the storm windows with frames which includes washing all glass.
2. Paint the front porch swing which includes sealing the wood and applying two coats of paint.
3. Prep, prime, and paint the front handrails of the porch steps.
4. Prep, prime, and paint two iron porch chairs to match.

This week, we will be preparing the wooden shutters to (hopefully) paint them by next weekend. Then, they will be rehung on the front and back of the house. If we haven't called anyone or emailed lately, you now know why. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WINTER!

We're Poorer But Prettier!

Today was the day - the last day. The painters arrived on time (as usual) and finished the second coat of green and all the final touch-ups. I am going to miss them. It was refreshing to have a group of courteous, hard-working individuals around. I even baked them cookies for the last day.

Again, if anyone wants a reference for a painting company, please see me. CertaPro was fantastic. And, remember, they paint interiors as well!

We'll be done on Monday!

The first coat of green is all on and the second coat will be applied on Monday. They will also perform "touch-ups" and, then, sadly, they will be done.

I say sadly because I will miss having this crew around. They are fabulous! Please, if anyone is considering a company to paint your house, please consider CertaPro. They also paint interiors! CertaPro is everything you had hoped for in a painting service. We are so happy (and relieved) that we chose to go with them.

Now we need to either tuck point the brick around the front windows or rehang our shutters. For more detail, click once on the pic to enlarge.

It IS easy being green!

Even with the hot weather, the crew arrived to finish up second coats of the cream and red AND the green paint began!

The pictures you see here are of the front of the house. It looks SO good even with just one coat.

We're seeing RED! Hooray!

Well, the rain broke in Lebanon and it didn't rain here all day. The humidity is horrible though.

The painters came and began the first coat of the red trim. If it looks "rough", that is why. I can't wait for the green to appear. That will make the house "pop."

Rain! Rain! Go away!

JUST when we were close to getting the colors put on the house, the rains came. Rats!

The cream linen color is everywhere but no colors yet. Everyone, please perform your sunshine dance! Thanks!

Colors have begun!

The colors have come out! The photo shows a sample of what the eventual house will look like. Today, they will paint all the cream colors (trim, windows, doors). Then, on Monday, the green and red will be painted. Yes, we ARE excited!

Today may be PRIME TIME!

While a lot of work went on yesterday, there wasn't anything visual to report. The painters worked on glazing windows and sanding down rough areas. They also caulked EVERY seam of the exterior to be painted and then sprayed a wood sealant on everything. Since we're using a latex paint, it will eliminate having moisture build up on/in the wood behind the paint to avoid future rotting.

Today, I'm hoping that some painting will begin because, basically, I am a child at heart and am impatient to see the colors appear. The company (CertaPro Painters) are amazing. They called last night to ask our permission for the workers to work on Saturday (today). Since the weather is so good, the workers wanted to continue. No, it doesn't cost us extra but they wanted to make sure we weren't planning outdoor functions, etc. I'll take professional consideration any time! Watch here for any pics later in the day.

Painters are HERE!

Yep! The final stages are underway. Today, CertaPro Painters arrived and they have begun the scraping and preparation for priming and painting.

VERY efficient so far! They were out of the car, ladders down, and were scraping within a matter of minutes!

Stay tuned!

Zionsville Rail Trail

Today, we discovered the Zionsville Rail Trail and it was fantastic. Since we had perfect weather today, we decided to load the bikes, drive into Zionsville and ride the entire trail.

It is designed so well. It is paved and has entrances from housing developments, main streets, and even one into the village. We plan to return soon to explore the village, have lunch, and bike some more. At the north end of the trail, there is a nursery who had cold drinks, Ritters frozen custard, and restrooms available for people using the trail.

There is talk (hopes) of extending this trail north through Whitestown and into Lebanon. Then on into Lafayette one day. We hope this comes to pass. It is so beautiful a ride, we just cannot describe it. Enjoy the pics!

House Holes Plugged

Amazing Bradley from HomeWorks is finishing up his tasks to make way for the painters. He is epoxying (sp?) the eroded holes on our eaves to fill them in to be painted. It is a multi-day project and the weather has not been too cooperative. CertaPro Painters will begin as soon as the weather allows. Stay "tuned" for more pics of the progress!
